This tax preparation software is entirely online. The live preparer method is $39.99 and the automated method is $19.99. We tried several times to use this service, we went through the process of submitting through the automated method, and attempted to use their help pages. However, we kept encountering link error problems during several different sessions.

The good features of this site are the articles and tax information. Although we found submitting difficult, they do offer a wide range of tax information that we found fairly useful. They have also added chat, email and telephone support as well as message boards and chat rooms.

Intuitive Navigation:  

There is virtually no navigation to discuss. When we tried to go back to a previous screen, the service took us back to the beginning of the process. This was exasperating.

Novice-Friendly:  

In order to use this service you need to have a fair amount of tax knowledge. The service does verify information that you enter before you continue to minimize the possibility of mistakes, but TaxGaga is not error proof and does not alert you to potential problems.

Ease of Sign-up:  

If the website is available when you are ready to use it, TaxGaga is available without download, but you need to set up an account.

Feature Set:

Help/Documentation/Search:  

This site supports many tax articles and additional resources, however we question how up to date some of the information is, since they still post download "2002" tax forms on their site. They offer telephone, chat and email support; however, we could not get the chat service to respond when we tried it.
